Fulbright Scholar Hunter Moore has returned to the U.S. after a stay in Trinidad researching Calypso. During the course of his stay, he interviewed performers such as Lord Surpriser, intending to "increase the number of people who know about his art and artistry". The Academy of Performing Arts (APA) places great value on building relationships with international colleagues, and students certainly benefitted from attending Hunter's lectures and from him hearing him speak and perform at 'Forum'.

Hunter writes: "My time as a Fulbright U.S. Scholar at the Academy for the Performing Arts in the fall of 2017 was stimulating and rewarding. I led a class in a form of musical notation used in Nashville, Tennessee recording studios known as the Nashville Number System. My students showed a genuine interest in the topic, engaging in class discussions, and appreciating the recorded examples. While at APA I took advantage of several excellent concerts and lectures offered by the school. I also attended classes in subjects taught by other professors and found the faculty to be welcoming and generous with their knowledge. Throughout, the passion of the students, faculty, and administration at the Academy of the Performing Arts was inspiring."
