On 22nd January 2018, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, UTT’s Academy for the Performing Arts (APA) proudly hosted a workshop on Arts Integration: Poetry and Music. Led by Kennedy Centre Arts Education workshop leader and Fulbright specialist Deborah Sunya Moore, students on the Teaching Artist pathway, and recent graduates with an interest in the Ministry of Education's pilot programme in Arts Integration explored an approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form.  Through a creative process, teachers help students connect an arts discipline with another subject area to meet evolving objectives in both.

The Teaching Artist Pathway at UTT's APA, mentored by Caitlyn Kamminga, encourages students to become practising performing artists with a commitment to sharing their artistry in a community setting and to include education in their practice.  Partnering with the Ministry of Education on high quality professional development workshops such as this, allows current and recent graduates of APA the opportunity to be on the cutting edge when applying for jobs and taking auditions.
