The B.A.Sc. programme is an undergraduate degree which can be completed full time within three (3) years or six (6) years part time. It requires a minimum of 108 credits for graduation and includes a final year Research and Development Project.
The introductory level or the Level 1 component of the programme is common to most undergraduate engineering programmes at the university. Students enter the Utilities Engineering specialization of the programme at Level 2 to pursue courses in electrical or mechanical engineering.
The students who graduate from the B.A.Sc. in Utilities Engineering are equipped to apply engineering principles and solve engineering problems.
The B.A.Sc. programme is currently offered at UTT’s Point Lisas Campus.
Instrumentation Engineering is a well-established discipline worldwide. The National Engineering Technician Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering provides students with sound theoretical and practical training in the operation and maintenance of automated process control and measurement systems used in the production of various commodities. Instrumentation Technicians test, certify, install, repair, inspect, maintain, and help to develop complex instruments that measure and record changes in industrial environments. The process-controlled systems operated by these technicians are central to the operation of such facilities as chemical plants, canneries, food processing plants, petroleum refineries, and power plants.
The programme is offered either as a two (2) year Full Time or four (4) year Part Time programme, requiring 82 credits for graduation. It includes a Capstone Project and Internships.
The IET programme is currently offered at UTT’s San Fernando Campus.
Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology is a well-established discipline worldwide. Electrical/Electronic Engineering technicians use the principles and theories of science, engineering, and mathematics to solve technical problems within a number of public utilities, as well as, a wide range of manufacturing, processing and transportation industries.
The “National Engineering Technician Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering” is designed to equip individuals with the practical skills, knowledge and understanding required for success in current employment and progression to future employment for a range of electrical/electronic occupations including installation, testing, operation and maintenance of complex electrical/electronic engineering products and systems.
The programme duration is two (2) years Full Time or four (4) years Part Time. It requires 82 credits for graduation and includes a Capstone project and Internship.
The NETD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering programme is presently offered at UTT’s San Fernando and Port-of-Spain campuses.
The NETD in Renewable Energy Engineering Technology (REET) diploma programme is the first practical technician level programme focused on Renewable Energy in CARICOM.
The programme is designed to produce practical, industry ready and globally competitive Renewable Energy Engineering Technicians who will directly contribute towards the sustainable development and use of the indigenous renewable sources of energy in Trinidad and Tobago, and CARICOM. It makes use of state-of-the-art equipment and technology; industry-based software; and local, regional and international standards and best practice to develop the technical competencies of learners in the programme.
The interdisciplinary nature of the programme and the many project and team-based assessments inculcates and develops the emotional intelligence of students in the programme.
Another core area of study in the NETD in REET programme is entrepreneurship. The programme fosters and develops entrepreneurship by producing graduates who are industry ready and by exposing students to entrepreneurship fundamentals and practices.
The NETD in REET Programme is offered on a full-time and part-time basis. The programme requires 82 credits for graduation and includes an Internship period.
