Searchlight@Schools
At the Academy for the Performing Arts, we have created a culture of civic responsibility. Through our service-learning courses, students are engaged in a three-part process: classroom preparation through explanation and analysis of big ideas; a service activity that emerges from and informs classroom context; and structured reflection tying service experience back to specific learning goals. Students learn to match their art and abilities to community needs as they build skills in communication, public speaking, collaborative thinking, and problem-solving.
Searchlight@Schools is the first point of entry into The University of Trinidad and Tobago, Academy for the Performing Arts (APA). Our students act as ambassadors of the APA and of their art form. As well as putting on a top performance, they spend time speaking to their audiences about their experience at the Academy, the amazing, diverse members of faculty, and the programs currently on offer at APA. Searchlight@Schools creates full circles out into the community and invites audiences back in both as future students and as members of our audience!
We are in search of bright lights interested in pursuing a degree in the performing arts! See you on d' road!!
