The University of Trinidad and Tobago SPE Student Chapter

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) International is one of the largest individual-member organisations serving managers, engineers, scientists and other professionals worldwide in the upstream segment of the oil and gas industry. The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) Student Chapter is a branch of this technical society.
UTT's SPE Student Chapter was formed in 2007. This Student Chapter provides an operating framework for society activities at a university level. It comprises a group of young, dynamic individuals who upon graduation are expected to enter the petroleum industry. Whilst the Chapter promotes the growth of individuals in the technical aspects of the industry, we also encourage our members to foster and enhance their social responsibility in the development of the industry and thus by extension our communities.
To this present day, the Chapter has grown extensively and has attracted SPE International’s attention, so much that the Chapter has been awarded SPE Gold Status and Outstanding Student Chapter in the Latin America and Caribbean Region for two (2) consecutive years (2010 and 2011). In 2015, it received the Outstanding Student Chapter Award. The UTT Student Chapter is presently the largest and most accomplished Chapter in Trinidad and Tobago with a membership of approximately 310 and counting.
