Our goal in the UTT Process Engineering programme is to produce a ‘hands-on’ graduate, confident in their engineering ability, experienced in popular process simulation and analysis software, and able to communicate effectively within the industrial environment. The capstone design project is the primary avenue to achieve this goal as it pulls together all of the principles taught in the programme.
Groups of 3 to 4 students work with a Faculty Supervisor and an Industrial Liaison on a corporate problem of importance that typically requires a Confidentiality Agreement. We believe that these partnerships are the best way to demonstrate the capabilities of our engineering students to potential employers in the Chemical and Process Industry.
The projects are showcased annually in January at a poster session to which the public, industry, students and faculty are invited. Prizes are awarded for the best projects at the MEng, BASc and NETD levels.
