Overview

The Certificate in Process Operations programme prepares students for careers as process operators responsible for controlling and safely operating an entire process to produce on-specification, marketable products at industrial plants. The programme consists of classes, laboratories and field visits to understand the operation and maintenance of common plant equipment and the principles behind industrial processes.

It includes the use of an Operator Training Simulator to give students hands on training in starting up, shutting down and controlling various processes. In the final term, several industrial plants are visited to foster a better understanding of how the theoretical principles introduced in class are implemented in actual equipment and processes. Emphasis is placed on Health, Safety and Environmental principles and regulations since a HSE aware plant operator is key to sustained production.
This programme is offered at the Point Lisas and San Fernando campuses of UTT.

The full time option can be completed in one year while the part time option can be completed in two years.
